museum paper

1.      What is the title of the art work, artist name, media used, date created and museum name?

The title of my art work is called Walt Disney it was created by Laurie Simmons she created the piece in 2009 by using digital media. This piece was being showcased in a traveling art exhibit at the museum of modern art fort worth.

2.      What does the picture look like; can you describe it in your own words?

The picture shows a very well named man by the name of Walt Disney, he is shown photographing a women which seems to be nude in a odd position.

3.      What three elements of design are the most noticeable and why?

This piece uses emphasis, geometric shapes and value.

In the picture the artist used cutout pictures to draw emphasis to walt Disney and the women. She also used light value I the picture.

For what reason was the art made; what was the possible aesthetic philosophy; is it representational, abstract or nonrepresentational; does it use known iconography; are there any cultural differences to consider about the artist? In what era was the work created and how does this affect the meaning of artwork?

This piece was created to show how women are sexualized in society, we use women to sell movies. I feel like the artist was trying to show how walt Disney used women to make money.

This piece of art is modern but used a different era in the picture.

What do you think this piece of artwork is about?

This piece is about gender stereotypes, the artist Laurie Simmons is widely known for portraying women in the eyes of society stereotypes.  We often see women has homemakers and baby makers and Simmons does a very good job at slapping us in the face with gender roles. I personally really enjoyed all her pieces, it was really hard for me to choose just one picture to write about.
